Overview

The REBUILD training is designed to equip Master Guide participants with practical skills and knowledge to assist Adventist Community Services (ACS) in two critical areas of ministry across the North American Division:

Disaster Relief Response
Community Development Projects

Training Focus Areas

1. Rebuild & Repair Work

Participants will learn how to contribute to rebuilding homes and community structures. This includes:

Roof repair
Window and door replacement
General construction tasks to restore habitability and safety to disaster-impacted homes

These skills are vital for ongoing ACS projects that help families recover and rebuild after natural disasters and crises.

2. Muck-Out Operations

Training will also cover muck-out, which is the safe removal of debris and damaged materials after a flood or disaster. This includes:

Mud and debris clearing
Removal of water-damaged drywall, carpet, and insulation
Safe disposal of damaged furniture and appliances

Muck-out is a foundational step in making homes ready for repair and reconstruction, and participants will learn how to do it safely and efficiently.

Master Guides trained in REBUILD will:

Be prepared to deploy with ACS teams in response to disasters throughout the year
Gain valuable hands-on skills that can also be used in local community service efforts, even outside of formal disaster events
Support ACS's year-round mission to serve people in need with compassion, professionalism, and care
